13 new polytechnics colleges opened in four years



Raipur, July 19, 2011

With an objective to expand technical education facilities across the state, the government has given approval to open several new engineering and polytechnic colleges. In this connection, 13 new polytechnic colleges (ten government and three private colleges) have been opened across the state in past four years.
“The government is committed to provide better par excellence technical education to the students. Already, the number of engineering colleges has increased from 12 in 2010 to 50 in 2011. The number of seats increased from 2730 to 20430. Similarly, about 11 years back, there were ten polytechnic colleges in the state. Now, there are 23. The number of seats too has increased from 1495 to 3840 during this period,” said the Technical Education Minister Hemchand Yadav on Tuesday.
Yadav informed that Chhattisgarh had gone past national average in imparting technical education. “The national average of technical education on every one lakh population is 68 while that of Chhattisgarh is 97,” he said.
The 10 new government polytechnic colleges have been opened in – Janjgir-Champa, Kabirdham, Bilaspur (Girls polytechnic), Mahasamund, Gariyaband, Bijapur, Narayanpur, Kanker, Baikunthpur and Jashpur.
The three new private polytechnic colleges have been opened in – IBT Polytechnic College Durg, Mansa Polytechnic College Durg (Kohka Road) NMDC/DAV Polytechnic College Dantewada.
