The Congress has alleged that the BJP government was responsible for fake ration card episode which surfaced recently. “How can more than 3.50 lakh fake ration cards be issued without government’s knowledge? This indicates how deeply the ministers and officials are mired in corruption,” said senior Congress leader and legislator Ajit Jogi on Thursday. Notably, the government had recently invalidated 359366 ration cards after finding the applicants either ineligible or fake. The highest number of ration cards was invalidated in Raipur district, i.e. 87553 followed by Bilaspur – 39227 and Durg – 31567. Jogi said the entire racket behind the scam should be exposed. He pointed out that the role of BJP corporators, fair price shop owners and government officials were dubious.
