As BJP completed its eight years of regime in Chhattisgarh on Monday, the Congress advised Chief Minister Raman Singh to do self analysis alleging that his government sold all the mines, water and lands of the state to the outsiders during his two tenures. “The UPA government has given Rs 80000 crore to the state in its two terms. Still anarchy prevailed in the state. Where has the funds gone? The CM must explain,” said the PCC president Nandkumar Patel while interacting with the media persons at Congress Bhawan on Monday.
“Ironically, the tribals are being exploited, over 7000 girls have become victim of human trafficking and farmers are committing suicide, however the government boasts of its “good governance” in the state,” Patel ridiculed. “We also condemn BJP government’s suppressive action against media,” he said.
He claimed that Chhattisgarh tops in number of land scams in the country. “The state stretches in about 1.42 lakh square kilometer while the government has issued reconnaissance permits of over 66000 kilometer land to search diamond, base metals and other polymetallic mineralisation.
He said the CM was peeved after the names of his kins surfaced in illegal allocation of mines in Madhya Pradesh (MP). “The MP CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan slacked the rules to allocate mines to Singh’s kins, but now the latter is refusing to have any relationship with them. He should rather disclose the names his family members or else the Congress will do it if required,” Patel said.
The CLP leader Ravindra Choubey said the gap between rich and poor had increased in eight years of BJP power in state. “The government has failed in all departments. Even the BJP’s own MP Dilip Singh Judeo has termed unrestrained action of bureaucrats as “administrative terrorism”. Recently, a meeting of BJP tribal leaders was held at Jashpur in which 17 dissenting MLAs were also present. While, nine out of ten Lok Sabha members of the ruling party including Ramesh Bais are upset with the Raman Singh government,” he said.
Choubey asserted that the opposition would surely bring no confidence motion at state Assembly during its winter session and claimed that the two BSP MLAs were in its support.
Legislator Mohammad Akbar targeted IAS association for its reported letter to the Vidhan Sabha (VS) Speaker in which it has urged not to allow House members to disclose names of the IAS officials having alleged links with graft cases. Akbar charged that the bureaucrats never follow VS directives and even baulk in responding to the letters sent by the MLAs. “If any documental evidence pertaining to corruption contains names of any bureaucrat then his name can be disclosed in the House. However, the Speaker has the power to omit the name,” he added.
The senior Congress leader Bhupesh Baghel demanded from the government to cancel the MoU with Ma Bamleshwari Minerals Rajnandgaon. “Usually, the government cancels the pact with the company if it fails to establish its unit in two years of its entering into agreement. But since Ma Bamleshwari Minerals is owned by one Santosh Agrawal, former representative of the CM when he was a Parliamentarian, the government has turned all the rules aside,” he alleged.
The Congress leader Uday Mudliyar said the a four acre donated land allocated to a poor in Rajnandgaon was sold to the industrialist during BJP regime. MLA Lekhram Sahu informed that the CM’s rally at Magarload (Dhamtari) was spoiled because the farmers were annoyed with his deceptive statements. “The farmers sloganeered and demanded paddy bonus from the CM. When we were going to submit a memorandum to the CM, the police arrested us. Later, frustrated by the farmers’ protest at rally, the CM suspended four officials,” he said.
The party leader Devvrat Singh alleged that the illegal mining was being done in Rajnandgaon and Kawardha districts under government’s protection. “About fifty trucks of illegal iron ore is being regularly transported from Salhewara-Gandai (Rajnandgaon) and Rengakhar (Kawardha),” he said.
