BJP has given new direction to CG in 8 yrs: Chandel

Raipur, December 16, 2011

The BJP has given new direction to Chhattisgarh in last eight years though its good governance and development works while the Congress did nothing for this region in fifty years. The words were expressed by BJP legislator Narayan Chandel on Friday while he was speaking in favour of the government during discussion on no confidence motion moved by Congress at Vidhan Sabha.
“The opposition has moved weakest no confidence motion in the history of the state Assembly. The Congress does not have any documents or evidences regarding its distrust on the government,” Chandel said.
Pointing shortcomings of former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi-led Congress regime, Chandel said the BJP on the other hand ensured that the development reach to nook and corner of the state.
Strongly objecting over Chandel’s statement the Congress MLA from Konta Kawasi Lakhma said he would tender his resignation if the former would prove that the government existed in the farfetched Bastar regions.
Chandel asserted that the government did exist in remote Bastar but simultaneously admitted that naxalism in the tribal rich areas was major obstacle in the path of development.
However, he held the Centre responsible for framing ineffective strategy to tackle Maoists. He said the extremism was an interstate problem and the Centre was supposed to deal it by providing adequate resources to the affected states. Citing example of the decision of Railways to stop operating night trains to and fro Howrah due to naxal terror, Chandel said it was an irony that the Centre could not figure out an apt solution to contain naxals in 19 months.
He further taunted PCC president and senior Congress legislator Nandkumar Patel for calling himself a horse. “Usually a noseband encircles the nose and jaw of the horse so that it could see and move straight, but Patel, who claims himself a hose, is unfortunately unaware about the number of people guiding him. Therefore, his party moved a weak no confidence motion,” Chandel said.
Defending Patel, the CLP leader Ravindra Choubey said his party believes in taking guidance from its members while framing any strategy and did the same while preparing listing out points for no confidence motion too. “The weakness or strength of the no confidence motion would be apparent in the coming days of the session,” he said.
