Government harassing our partymen: Congress

Raipur, December 24, 2011

Alleging that the police filed false criminal case against its party workers who had been to Forest office to submit memorandum regarding tiger killing in Rajnandgaon district, the Congress on Saturday said that the government was deliberately harassing its partymen.
“There was no need to take action against our workers when they had simply gone to express their concern to the Forest department on the tiger killing incident,” said Congress legislators Mohammad Akbar, Dharmjeet Singh, Kawasi Lakhma, Bodhram Kanwar, Tamradhwaj Sahu, Ambika Markam and Ramdayal Uike jointly.
They said the government on one side had failed to protect tigers in the state while on the other it was targeting tribals for no reason. “When our party workers are raising their voice in support of the innocent tribals, the government is using police to terrorise them,” they said.
Terming police action against its workers as ‘government’s terrorism’, the Congress warned of resorting to aggressive agitation in future if its partymen would be target.
