Cong’s three crucial meetings to be held on January 2

Raipur, December 26, 2011

After conclusion of winter session of Vidhan Sabha, opposition Congress has decided to continue raising major issues in public through protest movements and dharnas. In this connection, the party’s senior leadership will conduct three crucial meetings at Congress Bhawan on January 2, 2012.
The first meeting will be convened by PCC president Nandkumar Patel at 12 pm. The meeting will be attended by CLP leader Ravindra Choubey, PCC vice presidents, general secretaries, media cell and state presidents of party’s different morchas and cells. According to information, the leaders will discuss about the party’s next six months plan to gherao the ruling BJP.
The second meeting will be organised by the party’s disciplinary committee at 2 pm. According to information, the committee is concerned about increasing ego clashes between senior leaders. The most recent episode of power politics between two Congress leaders - PCC general secretary Subhash Sharma and RMC Mayor Kiranmayi Nayak surfaced in public when the latter took action against Sundar Nagar Society shops and office for non-payment of tax for 14 years. Sharma being the president of the society had opposed the municipal action and launched indirect offensive against Nayak.
Although, state Congress incharge BK Hariprasada has solved this issue but the disciplinary committee is likely to issue directives for the workers to avoid disclosing their differences in public.
At 4 pm, the chairman of Congress monitoring committee Arvind Netam will convene an important meeting in which the members will discuss panel’s forthcoming tour programmes.
Notably, the committee has already toured Sarguja, Bastar, Koria, Jashpur, Kawardha and Mahasamund districts in the recent past and claims to have found large number of graft cases in Centre’s flagship programmes including MNREGA and PMGSY. The party again plans to tour Bastar division in the first fortnight of January 2012 to inspect the progress of implementation of Central schemes.
