The state Assembly’s
winter session concluded on Friday. Speaker Dharamlal Kaushik adjourned the
House sine die. He expressed his satisfaction over House proceedings and said
both ruling and opposition parties played their role responsibly. “The House
proceedings concluded in cordial manner. The opposition moved no confidence
motion and raised several issues while the government replied to each query,”
he said.
In this session, the
Congress moved no confidence motion on the first day, i.e. December 15. The
House conducted debate on the motion for three days (December 16, 19 and 20).
About 48 members of the House put their views during the debate in 23 hours 19
minutes.
In this seven-day
winter session, the members debated on various issues for 47 hours. The House
received about 779 questions out of which 338 were starred questions. The
debate was conducted on 77 starred questions.
The Assembly received
nine non-governmental resolutions of which four were tabled in the House and
all were passed. One government resolution was also tabled in the House and was
passed unanimously.
The House received 41
adjournment motions during Question Hour and 64 in Zero Hour while it admitted
44 of the total motions. Similarly, the members had send 248 call attention
motions to be tabled in the House but 51 were admitted.
In this session, the
government tabled seven bills and all were passed. Besides, five departmental
reports were also tabled in the House.
The Speaker said the
budget session of the House tentatively commence from the second week of March
2012.
