Usare targets govt on paddy bonus, Jersey cow, free power

Raipur, December 16, 2011

The Congress MLA Shivraj Singh Usare trained his guns towards the ruling party on paddy bonus, jersey cow and free power on Friday. He raised the issue at Vidhan Sabha and asserted that the no confidence motion moved by the Congress was at an appropriate time.
“The government had promised in its 2008 poll manifesto to provide Rs 270 bonus to the farmers against per quintal of paddy procurement, distribute free jersey cows to the tribals and free electricity to the farmers to operate 5 HP irrigation pump. But now it is refusing to fulfill its promises,” said Usare.
“The CM once informed that he uses green diesel in his vehicle. This diesel is produced from jatropha plants. The Centre provides crores of rupees to the state for jatropha plantation but there is no retail outlet of green diesel. The Forest Department should explain why it failed to produced even one litre of green diesel from vast fund,” Usare added.
He pointed that highly ambitious schemes on potable water were being implemented in urban areas but people from many villages of his constituency had to survive by consuming contaminated water. The CLP leader Ravindra Choubey too backed Usare’s statement and urged PHE Minister Kedar Kashyap to adopt the villages with polluted water in Manpur-Mohla legislative Assembly area.
Usare further said that the education and health facilities in his region were also lacking. “There are three colleges in Manpur, Mohla and Chowki but all the three are managed by one principal. The government should quickly fill the vacant posts of teachers. It must also upgrade facilities in the hospitals,” he said.
