Chhattisgarh govt corrupt, impassive, anti-farmer: Patel

Raipur, November 30, 2011
The BJP government is mired in corruption, has become insensitive towards public problems and is adopting anti-farmer policies. PCC president Nandkumar Patel levelled this allegation on Wednesday while he was addressing massive gathering of Congmen during the party’s district-level workers’ meeting in Balod.
Patel said the BJP never fulfilled its promise made in its election manifesto regarding disbursal of Rs 270 paddy bonus and free electricity for 5 HP pumps for irrigation to the farmers. He also held Raman Singh government for sudden rise in cement prices.
He said the government even remained unmoved in wake of Balod eye camp incident. “The Health Minister Amar Agrawal too preferred giving irresponsible statements about the eye victims instead of going on the spot and taking stock of the situation. This proves government’s impassiveness towards the issue,” he said demanding from the CM to sack the Health Minister on moral grounds.
He said the Balod meeting would be a major turnaround for the party and it would expedite its activities in future more aggressively.
The CLP leader Ravindra Choubey held the BJP’s policies responsible for the downfall of the state. “The government is exploiting the commoners and benefitting the industrialists. It is misusing Central funds and selling dams, river water, agricultural lands as well as mines. The Congress will fight against this corrupt government from streets to Vidhan Sabha and would regain power in the state in 2013,” he said.
Former Union Minister Vidya Charan Shukla said the BJP government had crossed all limits of corruption and its days were numbered.
Ex-Chief Minister Ajit Jogi said the government had always neglected farmers and hence it was refusing to disburse Rs 270 paddy bonus. He urged the partymen to unite for 2013 Assembly polls.
The meeting was attended by all the senior party leaders including state Congress incharge BK Hariprasada, Arvind Netam, Dr Renu Jogi, Tamradhwaj Sahu, Satyanarayan Sharma, Pratima Chandrakar, Ambika Markam, Bhajan Singh Nirankari, Shivkumar Daharia, Lekhram Sahu, Arun Vora, Pradeep Choubey, Ramesh Warlyani, Domendra Bhedia, Abdul Hameed Hayat, Mohan Patel, Anil Bhedia, Jaswant Cladius, etc.
