The Congress on Monday jeered government for failing to make Chhattisgarh a power hub and said it rather turned the state into a criminal hub. “The crime rate has increased and so has the police reaction time. The government is solely responsible for the prevailing lawlessness in the state,” said the chairman of Congress media cell Shailesh Nitin Trivedi and spokesperson Sushil Anand Shukla jointly on Monday.
They said the government was uncertain about its own decisions and plans. “A Special Investigation Cell (SIC) was constituted by the police department to keep a tab on land mafias and white-collared criminals. But Home Minister Nankiram Kanwar has dissolved this cell because he says it was formed without his consent. The criminals are surely taking advantage of the difference in top brasses of the police department and the HM,” the duo said.
Pointing towards recent abduction of a schoolboy from Bhilai, the Congmen said it was unfortunate that the police had not find any clue even in ten days. “This is the condition in the entire state. The criminals are targeting women and children in broad day-light but the government is silent while the police are inactive,” they said.
“The people of state are feeling insecure under BJP’s regime. It is the responsibility of the government to maintain law and order but it has completely failed to do so,” they charged.
