Raipur zone candidates fill nominations for NSUI polls




Jogi camp fields Subodh Haritwal, VC camp and organisation’s favourite is Devendra Yadav for state president post

The candidates from Raipur zone filled nomination papers for NSUI elections at Congress Bhawan from 10 am to 3 pm on Saturday. Former NSUI general secretary Subodh Haritwal from Raipur filled nominations from Ajit Jogi camp for state president post while Vidya Charan Shukla camp and organisation put forward Devendra Yadav’s name from Durg. Sources say that there would be straight fight between Haritwal and Yadav, although a host of other candidates too have filled nominations for the president post.
Earlier, Jasmeet Sonu Sharma from Jogi camp was supposed to fill nominations for the president post, but he opted out in the last minute clearing the decks for Haritwal.
For the coveted Raipur district president post of NSUI, the Jogi camp has fielded Pradeep Sahu while Bhavesh Shukla will be the favourite candidate from VC camp and the organisation.
Notably, this time the NSUI’s central election commission has divided Chhattisgarh into three zones to conduct elections – Raipur, Bilaspur and Jagdalpur.
There are seven districts under Raipur zone - Raipur, Janjgir-Champa, Mahasamund, Dhamtari, Durg, Kawardha and Rajnandgaon, six districts under Bilaspur zone – Bilaspur, Koria, Sarguja, Jashpur, Korba and Raigarh and five districts under Jagdalpur zone – Jagdalpur, Dantewada, Kanker, Bijapur and Narayanpur.
The candidates from Jagdalpur and Bilaspur zones have already filed nomination papers on November 29 and December 2 respectively.
The counting of 12 districts committees of Raipur and Jagdalpur zones would be held from 10 am to 4 pm on December 5 at Shaheed Smarak Bhawan in the capital city. Then the counting of the remaining six districts committees under Bilaspur zone along with state committee including president would be done at Bilaspur on December 7.
In state as well as district committees, there will be ten members – one president, one vice president and eight general secretaries (five – unreserved, one – SC/ST and two – female). Besides, there will be four national delegates (two – unreserved, one – SC/ST and one – female). The tenure of college, district and state units would be of two years.
