Congress to make list of workers who shunned mass arrest

Raipur, December 13, 2011

The Congress will prepare list of its office-bearers and public representatives who shunned party’s statewide mass arrest (jail bharo andolan) programme organised on December 9. The decision was taken by PCC president Nandkumar Patel during the review meeting of jail bharo andolan he convened at Congress Bhawan. The meeting was attended by CLP leader Ravindra Choubey along with PCC vice presidents, general secretaries and other office-bearers.
Notably, the party had courted mass arrest with its three-point demand - Rs 270 paddy bonus for farmers, free electricity to farmers for operation of five HP pumps for irrigation purpose and curtailment in high domestic power tariffs. The senior leaders along with workers staged dharna in all the 90 Vidhan Sabha from 12-4 pm followed by mass arrest.
However, several party leaders and public representatives did not participate in dharna and jail bharo andolan. According to information, Patel has asked the Lok Sabha incharges to make a list of the all the truants. He maintained that the party would not tolerate any form of indiscipline and stern action would be taken against the truants. He will forward the names of non-participants to the disciplinary committee.
He has further stated that certificates would be given to those who participated in jail bharo andolan and contributed in making the party programmed successful.
