The Chief Minister
Raman Singh has said that trust of the members of state Assembly and support of
people were the biggest assets of his government. “We are setting milestones
for development of Chhattisgarh on the basis of these assets and would continue
our efforts in future too,” he said while addressing the House on the
concluding day of the winter session of the Vidhan Sabha on Friday.
He appreciated House
members for actively participating in the debates and expressed his
satisfaction that the proceedings were conducted amicably.
He further praised
opposition for raising various issues related to the people. He said the
criticisms of the opposition would always guide the ruling party to discharge
its responsibility with sincerity.
He said he had
constituted a balanced team of ministers and all were coordinating each other
to run the government successfully.
He pointed that his
government tabled various bills pertaining to public welfare in the House and
all were passed. He also praised the House for unanimously passing government
resolution to hike paddy MSP.
We raised all major
issues thru no confidence motion: Choubey

Leader of the
opposition Ravindra Choubey on Friday said that his party played the role of
positive opposition in Vidhan Sabha and raised all the major issues by moving
no confidence motion. “We have done our job by tabling our 32-page charge sheet
through no confidence motion. Now, the House knows whether the answers on our
queries came or not,” he said.
He emphasised on
provision of more number of working days for House proceedings so that his
party could get ample time for debate on sundry issues related to public.
“However, in spite of short winter session, we managed to put our opinion in
the House,” he said.
He said the curtailment
of SC quota was unfortunate and felt the ruling party had accepted the
opposition’s demand to make it 16%. He also regretted that his party could not
seek answer over Balod eye camp incident as it boycotted Health Minister Amar
Agrawal for his controversial statements on eye victims.
He expressed his
concern over rising crime in the state and pointed that the abduction cases
including the recent in Bhilai had shattered the entire state. He urged the
Home Minister to take firm measures to check criminals.
He further questioned
the government’s commitment to protect tigers by citing example of back-to-back
killings of the Big cats in the recent past. “While the entire world is
agitating to save tiger, three of this species were killed in Chhattisgarh,” he
said. Choubey demanded high-level probe into the matter.
