Our allegations against govt remained unanswered: Cong

Says it will now take the issues to streets

Raipur, December 23, 2011

The Congress says that its allegations against the government remained unanswered in Vidhan Sabha. “Now, we will take the issues to the streets at block, district and state levels,” said PCC president Nandkumar Patel and CLP leader Ravindra Choubey while talking to the media persons at Congress Bhawan after conclusion of Vidhan Sabha’s winter session on Friday.
The duo said the opposition almost raised all the burning issues in the House but the government did not reply. “We exposed the government by debating on various subjects raised through no confidence motion. We were aware of the result of the motion but we succeeded in discomfiting the government,” Choubey said.
“We had already told that we would raise public issues from House to streets. We did half of our job in the House and now it is the time to go on streets and inform the people about the government’s misdeeds,” he added.
He jeered Chief Minister Raman Singh for not replying to the opposition’s key questions on land and mines scams. “His answers were repetitive. In fact, we are hearing the same answer which he is giving for the past eight years,” he said.
On Balod eye incident, he said the opposition boycotted Health Minister Amar Agrawal for his reckless statements on the eye victims. “Unfortunately, the government too did not feel it significant to clarify its stand on this issue,” he said demanding high-level probe into the matter and sufficient compensation for the eye victims.
Patel said the Congress would soon start its protest movements against the government. “We have already framed our next six-month strategy to upset the ruling BJP,” he said.
“We will ensure to raise more number of issues in the Vidhan Sabha in the budget session to be held in March 2012,” he said informing that his party members would incorporate problems of all the 90 legislative constituencies.
He said the Congress would increase its domain and would attempt to reach up to seven lakh members from existing five lakh.
When asked about his recent announcement regarding filing public interest litigations (PILs) against the government, Patel said, “We have started filing PILs. Our first PIL is on Balod eye camp incident. There are many more PILs in the pipeline.”
