Raipur, October 19, 2012

About 200 YC and NSUI members were arrested while they were on way to gherao SSP office with their demand to register case against Chief Minister Raman Singh, SSP Raipur Dipanshu Kaabra, TI Telibandha RK Dubey and other police personnel into Hussein case on Friday.

Earlier, Amit Jogi addressed the rally of YC and NSUI activists who gathered at Congress Bhawan on Friday noon. Jogi said it was unfortunate that YC Lok Sabha general secretary Anwar Hussein was thrashed by police for asking genuine question to the CM. He alleged that the government was adopting repressive policy against Congress members. “This government would not last long and Congress will defeat it in 2013 assembly polls,” he said.

Thereafter, when the rally proceeded towards the SSP office, the police arrested the YC and NSUI members. Before being arrested, Jogi, accompanied by PCC secretary Yogesh Tiwari, YC state president Uttam Vasudev, YC Raipur Lok Sabha president Vinod Tiwari and NSUI state vice president Subodh Haritwal, submitted a memorandum to the police on the name of Governor Shekhar Dutt seeking action against guilty persons into Hussein case.

In memorandum, they wrote the incident occurred when the CM presented wrong figures of paddy production during his address at inaugural session of National Agriculture Science Fair at Indira Gandhi Agriculture University on October 7, 2012.
Meanwhile, when Hussein interrupted the CM and asked how paddy production increased when crop area had reduced, the latter not only insulted him by calling drunk, but also directed the police to take him out, they wrote.

The police arrested Hussein and took him to Telibandha police station where he was thrashed in presence of SSP Dipanshu Kaabra, TI Telibandha RK Dubey and other senior police officials, they added. They informed that Hussein’s eardrum got damaged when police beat him relentlessly in custody.

They alleged that the state police was functioning as private army of the CM and his party. They reiterated their demand of registration of case against the CM, SSP Raipur, TI Telibandha and other cops.

The other prominent YC and NSUI members who got arrested were – Samir Ahmed, Vibhash Singh, Ashok Sharma, Ashok Sonwani, Sandeep Sahu, Abhishek Modi, Pappu Baghel, Sunil Kukreja, Indrajeet Singh, Ashish Dubey, Sushil Agrawal, Sanjeev Shukla, Pradeep Sahu, Makhan Tamrakar, Vipin Mishra, Gulzeb Ahmed, Bunty Hora, etc.
