Jogi celebrates wedding anniversary, displays power

Raipur, October 08, 2012

Former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi and his spouse and MLA Dr Renu Jogi celebrated their  37th wedding anniversary on Monday. Several party leaders including 32 MLAs, former MPs, ex-legislators, DCC presidents, PCC office-bearers and large number of Jogi’s supporters across the state attended his wedding anniversary party organised at his residence. The bash is seen as yet another power display by Jogi, after the Iftar party he had recently given at his residence, in the backdrop of growing resistance against him in top brasses of the state Congress.

Notably, Union Minister of State Charandas Mahant, CLP leader Ravindra Choubey, former PCC president Dhanendra Sahu and party general secretary Bhupesh Baghel had recently objected over parallel programmes of Jogi and his son Amit in different parts of the state.

These leaders including PCC president Nandkumar Patel had reportedly complaint against Jogi to the state unit incharge BK Hariprasada and Ahmed Patel – the political secretary of party supremo Sonia Gandhi at New Delhi a couple of days back. However, Jogi remained silent over the campaign against him and decided to wait and watch what the party utters officially on the matter.

With his wedding anniversary falling on Monday (October 8), sources say, Jogi finds it the most apt moment to display power again as his son arranged a massive party to celebrate the occasion inviting all the heavyweights in the state unit including the opponents.

At this juncture, when the all camps of organisation haves united to target Jogi, the latter has proved his might again by organising such a bash the reverberations of which would be heard even at New Delhi.
