SIPMT encroached canal, did illegal construction: YC

Raipur, October 04, 2012

The Youth Congress (YC) has alleged that Shankaracharya Institute of Professional Management and Technology (SIPMT) based at Mujgahan (Raipur) deceived government and did illegal construction by encroaching an irrigation canal and hiding facts. In this connection, the YC’s Raipur Lok Sabha president Vinod Tiwari and other organisational members submitted a memorandum along with documental evidence to Collector Siddharth Komal Pardeshi on Thursday morning demanding high-level probe into the matter.

“We have demanded action against IP Mishra, the owner of SIPMT and chairman of Shri Gangajali Education Society (Nehru Nagar Bhilai) under which the institute is being operated. We have also demanded equal action against the government staffers who helped Mishra in obtaining no objection certificate (NOC) for construction under a conspiracy,” Tiwari said.

Tiwari informed that he fetched comprehensive information about the wrongdoings of SIPMT through Right to Information Act (RTI).
“According to documents obtained under RTI, there was an irrigation canal on khasra number 224 but the SIPMT levelled, occupied it illegally and did not mention about it in the map of institute campus. Moreover, the SIPMT neither obtained NOC from Water Resources Department nor from gram panchayat or najul department pertaining to construction over canal,” Tiwari said.

“More surprisingly, Mishra managed to obtain NOC for building construction from Joint Director Town and Country Planning in one day. Mishra submitted the application for NOC to Joint Director Zahid Ali on January 11, 2008. The application was officially accepted on January 14, 2008 and on the same date NOC was issued. The gram panchayat Mujgahan had strongly objected over it but no action was taken from Town and Country Planning department,” he added.

He pointed that the SIPMT had submitted an affidavit that the boundary of its campus would be 22.50 meter away from the road, but it also encroached the specific government land that was supposed to be left.

He alleged that the Joint Director Town and Country Planning Zahid Ali, instead of delegating job of issuing NOCs to the senior and technical staffers was rather engaging non-technical staffers for the purpose and doing huge corruption.

He further pointed that the several criminal cases had been filed against SIPMT including distribution of fake MBA certificates, recovery of inordinate fees from students and operation of multiple courses from one building against norms.

“The Collector has assured us that he would conduct inquiry into the matter and take action against guilty people in 15 days,” Tiwari informed.
