Cong asks CM's reply on paddy purchase scam

Raipur, October 15, 2012

Pointing that YC Lok Sabha general secretary Anwar Hussein’s question to Chief Minister Raman Singh pertaining to paddy procurement scam was still unanswered, the Congress on Monday asked the CM to respond on it.

“In a recent programme at Raipur, Hussein had asked the CM how his government claims of increased paddy production and procurement when crop area had reduced. This was a genuine question and the CM was expected to reply calmly but he lost his control and termed Hussein as drunk. Eventually, the police arrested Hussein and thrashed him relentlessly in custody,” said the PCC president Nandkumar Patel and CLP leader Ravindra Choubey.

“Besides CM, two union ministers were present during the programme. The security arrangement was obviously very strong. Still if the CM called Hussein drunk then it signifies that he does not trust his own police administration. Till date, no medical test has confirmed of Hussein’s inebriation, although the medical checkup report after his release from the police custody reveals that he lost his hearing power,” they added.

They said the CM should reply to Hussein’s question to come clean on paddy purchase scam.
