Sahu for effective execution of livestock schemes

Raipur, October 18, 2012

Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries Minister Chandrashekhar Sahu has emphasised on effective implementation of development schemes for livestock.

“Unfortunately, despite strong link of our culture and rural economy with livestock, we are unable to execute the schemes meant for them properly,” he said during his addressing at a day-long seminar on ‘veterinary practice in field to improve animal health, fertility and productivity – a practical approach’ held at New Circuit House on Thursday.

He felt that women can take better care of livestock and stressed on linking them with animal husbandry sector under women farmer empowerment schemes.

He pointed that union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar, during his recent state visit to inaugurate Agriculture Science Fair, too had called Chhattisgarh full of potential in terms of animal husbandry sector.

Remembering father of white revolution Verghese Kurien, he said the former’s vision and schemes to increase milk production were relevant in current day scenario too.
