Congress has asked district administration to stop gas connection verification during festival period. In this regard, the members of Congress Jhuggi Jhopdi cell led by their former president Sheikh Shakeel on Tuesday submitted a memorandum to Collector Siddharth Komal Pardeshi.
“People are facing inconvenience in getting their gas connections verified due to their preoccupation during festival. Many informed that despite waiting for several hours in queues at gas agencies, their turn came on the following day. Hence, we have requested to stop the verification work till the festival period gets over,” Shakeel said.
“We have also urged the Collector to conduct verification work by sending teams door-to-door after festival,” he added.
“We further informed the Collector that many consumers do not get home delivery facility of cylinders from the gas agencies despite paying extra bucks for that. Eventually, such consumers have to travel 10-20 kilometers to gas cylinder godowns to get their quota of cylinders,” he said.
On the occasion, Shakeel was accompanied by Suresh Chandra Dave, Tankdhar Deep, Prakash Ramteke, Sewak Mahanand, Sadik Khan, Santosh Kumar, Gopi Bagh, etc.
