YC demonstrates at Shankar Nagar chowk for traffic signal

Raipur, October 05, 2012

The Youth Congress (YC) on Friday staged silent demonstration at Shankar Nagar chowk reiterating its demand to install traffic signal at the road intersection. While demonstrating, the protestors also kept the symbolic dead body of a woman who died in a road accident at Shankar Nagar chowk two days back.

“We have been demanding traffic signal in the locality for the past several months pointing the increasing number of road mishaps there but the district administration is still hibernating,” said the YC leader Akash Tiwari.

He informed that five major accidents had occurred in the area in past three months. “The latest mishap is the woman’s death two days back. Obviously, the district administration is responsible for this,” he said.

“We are unable to understand why the administration is delaying to install traffic signal at Shankar Nagar chowk when it was expected to do so much before for convenience of public,” he said.

He cautioned the administration that the youth would take the traffic management of Shankar Nagar chowk in their hands if traffic signal would not be installed in next ten days.

At demonstration spot he was accompanied by Raipur North legislator Kuldeep Singh Juneja, Sanjay Pathak, Sattu Singh, Yatendra Singh Tomar, Amitesh, Sunil Bhuwal, Kanwaljeet Juneja, Rajat Chhabda, Yash Gujar, Gaurav Mandhani, etc.
