BJP effaces basic concept of Naya Raipur: Bissa

Raipur, October 26, 2012

Congress spokesperson Rajesh Bissa has alleged that BJP government had effaced the basic concept of developing Naya Raipur by raising the land prices to such an extent that middle-class people could not even dream of owning a house in the fourth planned city of the country.

“When Chhattisgarh became state, the then Congress government had decided to reduce population density of Raipur city by developing Naya Raipur. But when the BJP came into power, it increased the land prices in Naya Raipur despite acquiring the lands at low rates,” he said.

“The rate of residential plots in Naya Raipur hovers around Rs 900 per square foot. Certainly, a common man cannot afford such a whopping land rate,” he indicated.

He also sniffed corruption in proposed golf course at Naya Raipur for which the government had not only reserved large tract of land but also formed joint venture with IL&FS. “I fetched informed regarding golf course at Naya Raipur. But surely there is no need to waste such an expensive land for a game which is not played in the state,” he said.

“The Raipurians are also unable to figure out the benefits and loss of shifting of Mantralaya and organisation of Rajyotsav 2012 at Naya Raipur,” he said.
He urged the government to take appropriate steps to safeguard interests of Raipurians.
