Congress has demanded door-to-door verification of gas connections pointing that the consumers had to face inconvenience spending several hours in queues at gas agencies. In this connection, the Congress workers led by party’s business cell president Kanhaiyya Agrawal gheraoed the office of Bahrat Petroleum (BP) MD Mahesh Goyal at Nagar Ghadi chowk on Thursday.
“This is not practical. Several consumers are still unable to sneak time to get their gas connections verified in weekdays. Besides, due to festival period, the people are busy in their household works. Hence, we have demanded from Goyal to conduct verification of gas cards by sending teams door-to-door,” said Agrawal.
Goyal, in turn, informed the Congmen that the gas connection verification was not for all consumers, but for those who have multiple connections on same name with same home address. Accordingly, the gas agencies have prepared lists and calling the consumers one-by-one, he added. He said the door-to-door proposal would be considered when verification of every gas connection would be done.
On the occasion, Agrawal was accompanied by Atul Raghuvanshi, Gurjeet Singh Sandhu, Santosh Tiwari, Sheikh Shakeel, Atish Sahu, Purushottam Sharma, etc.
