Congress membership drive begins from Oct 16th

Raipur, October 13, 2012

Congress will commence its membership campaign in all states from October 16. With Chhattisgarh going to assembly polls in 2013, the party aims to win the battle on shoulders of youth, especially women, hence the target will be to include more number of young blood through membership drive.
Earlier, the party’s membership campaign produced dismal result as only four lakh new members could be made as against the target of ten lakh members given by the high command.

This time, PCC president Nandkumar Patel has already fixed target for every District Congress Committee (DCC). In state, there are 34 DCCs – each will have different target according to party’s existing position. The state unit will particularly concentrate in tribal and rural areas during campaign to improve its poll tally.

The campaign will be conducted at district, block, panchayat and ward levels.
At Raipur, Patel will kick-start the drive from Congress Bhawan at morning on October 16, informed PCC spokesperson Mahendra Chhabda. The party has started distributing membership forms to the DCCs so that drive could commence at scheduled time, he said.
