Congress says that the Centrally-sponsored scheme – Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojna (RSBY) was ineffective in the state due to prevalence of grafts.
“The smart card scam is a glaring example of corruption in RSBY. Such scams cannot happen without protection of top authorities. From government officials to doctors to insurance companies, everyone is involved in this scam,” said state Congress president Nandkumar Patel and CLP leader Ravindra Choubey.
“The Centre and state incur the RSBY fund in the ration of 75:25. The aim of this scheme is to provide better health facilities to the poor. Unfortunately, the government is neither serious in implementing it nor looks committed to provide enhanced medial aids to the poor,” the duo said.
They demanded physical verification of all the treatments and payments done through smart cards and stern action against people involved in smart card scam.
