Raipur, October 16, 2012
Amit Jogi on Tuesday met YC Lok Sabha general secretary Anwar Hussein who was allegedly thrashed by the police in custody after being arrested at recent event in Raipur for obstructing Chief Minister Raman Singh’s speech.
Jogi, accompanied by NSUI state vice president Subodh Haritwal and Sandeep Sahu, assured Hussein that the YC and NSUI will jointly mount pressure on the government for action against the guilty cops who beat the latter in custody.
“The YC and NSUI members across the state will gherao SSP office under the leadership of Amit Jogi on October 19,” informed Haritwal later.
Notably, state Congress and its frontal organisations took strong objection over the reported ill-treatment of Hussein in police custody. While the organisation is planning to raise this issue along with police lathicharge on YC workers in Sitapur recently through protest movements, Jogi camp is said to have take edge over it by announcing SSP office gherao programme on October 19.
