Congmen to be inducted in Rail Advisory Committee

Soon, the Indian Railways will induct Congress leaders from Chhattisgarh in its Rail Advisory Committee (RAC). The assurance was given by the Union Minister of State for Railways KH Muniyappa while he was addressing the Congress workers at Congress Bhawan on Tuesday.
Muniyappa, who was on day-long visit to the state capital, was surprised when he learnt from party workers at Congress Bhawan that the RAC comprised of majority of the BJP leaders in spite of Congress-led UPA government holding the country’s reins. He said justice would be done and Chhattisgarh Congress leaders would also get an opportunity in the RAC. In this connection, he urged veteran Congress leader Vidya Charan Shukla and former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi to provide list of the names of Congress leaders for RAC.
Muniyappa remained for about an hour in the Congress Bhawan and met senior Congress leaders and PCC office-bearers.
While addressing the party workers, the minister informed that the UPA government was providing full financial support to the Chhattisgarh government.
“The Centre has prepared a plan worth Rs 200 crore to expand rail services in Chhattisgarh. All the railway stations of the state would be upgraded and equipped with all the basic facilities. The Centre has also approved Raipur-Dhamtari broad gauge rail line project which is likely to commence in next six months,” he said.
The minister appealed to the Congmen to unite and prepare for mission 2013 when the state would witness Assembly elections. He said the workers must enhance party’s domain in rural pockets so that the Congress could comfortably defeat the incumbent BJP government in the next Vidhan Sabha elections.
In the absence of PCC president Nandkumar Patel and leader of Congress Legislators Party (CLP) Ravindra Choubey who are at New Delhi presently, Muniyappa went straightaway to Vidya Charan Shukla’s residence from Mana airport on Tuesday morning and spent some 30 minutes with him. He discussed about various issues in the state besides taking stock of party’s activities.
Shukla said the Raipur Rail Division lacked basic facilities. “In spite of giving highest revenue to the Indian Railways, the rail services in Raipur Rail Division are proportionately not at par,” Shukla told to Muniyappa.
Thereafter, he met Ajit Jogi at his residence. Jogi thanked him for Centre’s approval to Raipur-Dhamtari broad gauge rail line project and requested to the minister to adopt the state for its better development in terms of rail services.
The senior leaders who were present during Muniyappa’s address to the party workers at Congress Bhawan were - Vidya Charan Shukla, MLAs Ajit Jogi, Renu Jogi, Gurmukh Singh Hora, Rajkamal Singhania and Kuldeep Juneja, PCC general secretary incharge Subhash Sharma, PCC Spokesperson Rajendra Tiwari, Satyanarayan Sharma, DCC president Inderchand Dhariwal, Pradesh Mahila Congress working president Kalpana Patel, NSUI state president Sanjeev Shukla and others.

During Union Minister of State for Railways KH Muniyappa’s visit to Congress Bhawan, several party workers submitted memorandums to him regarding their demands like construction of ramp in Raipur railway station, to increase the frequency of various trains, start new trains for Raipur and enhance passenger facilities in trains. He assured the leaders to seriously consider their demands.
