BJP to launch offensive against UPA govt from June 26

Will raise issues like corruption, inflation & black money

The malady of black money and corruption can be addressed only if we have larger and wholesome vision. Social activists like Anna Hazare and Swami Ramdev have raised certain legitimate issues which have a wider impact on our society. The Congress-led UPA government at Centre should not shy away from initiating a bigger debate which includes other relevant aspects like electoral and educational reforms. The words were expressed by organisation’s district incharge and chairman of Chhattisgarh Text Book Corporation (CTBC) Ashok Sharma while he was addressing the party workers during the meeting BJP Raipur district (Rural) at Ekatma Parisar on Monday.
In the meeting, the party decided to launch offensive against the UPA government by raising the issues like corruption, inflation and black money. In this connection, the party will organise awareness rallies at mandal level from June 26 to July 3. To make the awareness rallies successful, the party workers will chalk out strategy at mandal level meetings which would be conducted till June 20. The awareness rallies would be attended by all the state and district level leaders.
Sharma said the Centre’s stance on key issues like corruption and black money seemed to be selective and evasive. “It is an irony that the Union government hesitates in taking any meaningful action on black money because the money trail could lead to many key figures in the Congress party. However, the same government does not hesitate in ordering an inhuman and barbaric crackdown on followers of social activists like Swami Ramdev who were peacefully demanding for repatriation of black money,” Sharma said.
“There is an unprecedented outrage and revulsion against the clandestine manner in which the UPA government is dealing with issues of corruption and black money,” he said.
“If the government is serious in its intent and commitment then it could convene a special session of Parliament just after the conclusion of monsoon session to discuss and formulate a national policy against black money and corruption which would serve as a guideline for all incumbent governments,” said the chairman of Chhattisgarh Warehousing Corporation Ashok Bajaj.
“Corruption has become a systemic risk to our country. Therefore the country needs a multi-pronged and time bound strategy against corruption. Although the Centre has constituted many committees, sub-committees and panels which are expected to give reports in future but without a firm will and an extensive action plan to bring back black money these committees will be rendered meaningless,” he added.
The Chairman of state’s Seeds Development Corporation Shyam Bais informed that the UPA government ratified the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) after six years since the Convention came into force in 2005 which happened only after pressure mounted by the opposition parties on it. “Ratification of the UNCAC means that India has agreed on asset-recovery. Asset recovery by the member countries is the most fundamental principle of the UNCAC. The people are now looking forward to the process of asset recovery. The BJP demands from the Prime Minister to share the details of his government’s action plan for asset recovery from foreign countries through a white paper on black money,” he said.
