CM must step down after naxal violence in Amabeda: YC

The Youth Congress has demanded resignation from Chief Minister Raman Singh on moral grounds in wake of naxal violence in Amabeda under Gariyaband development block (Raipur district) that killed nine cops including an Additional Superintendent of Police recently. “The increasing activities of Maoists in Raipur district indicate that they have overpowered Raman Singh government,” said the president of YC Lok Sabha Raipur Vinod Tiwari while he was interacting with the media persons on Friday.
Terming the government’s anti-naxal policies ineffective and flawed, Tiwari said the YC would not keep quiet and launch protest movement against it. In this connection, the YC will first take out a bike rally which will commence from Raipur on Saturday and conclude at Amabeda on Sunday (May 29, 2011). The rally led by Tiwari will also pay homage to the nine martyred cops at Gariyaband on Saturday. “On May 29, the YC will burn the effigy of the CM,” announced Tiwari.
He slammed the CM and the Home Minister for not taking stock of the situation by visiting Amabeda after the gruesome incident. “The entire state government is scared of naxals and is simply staking the lives of security personnel and the poor tribal,” Tiwari alleged.
It is an irony that the CM, his Cabinet ministers and the officials frame strategies to tackle the extremists in their air conditioned offices but never take pain to see the ground realty by conduct spot visit. At least, they visit naxal-infested areas to encourage the security forces,” he said.
He pointed out that the people of Chhattisgarh living in remote areas were not getting benefited by the government’s schemes and projects. “By neglecting the tribal people and not providing them basic facilities, it seems the Raman Singh government is deliberately giving opportunity to the naxals flourish,” Tiwari charged.
