Cong demands from Governor to remove Home Minister



On his son’s alleged involvement in forcible acquisition of lands from tribals


A delegation of Congress leaders led by PCC president Nandkumar Patel on Thursday demanded from Governor Shekhar Dutt to remove Home Minister Nankiram Kanwar instantly pointing out that his son Sandeep was engaged in forcible acquisition of lands from tribals. In this connection, the delegation also submitted a memorandum to the Governor.
The delegation reached Raj Bhawan in the form a small rally from Congress Bhawan via Chota Para, Rajiv Gandhi chowk and Motibagh chowk. The Congress leaders also shouted slogans against Kanwar and his son on their way to Raj Bhawan.
The delegation informed the Governor how Sandep was working as an agent of Videocon Industries Limited Mumbai and purchasing lands of tribal people of Janjgir-Champa district on his name and then transferring them to the company. The delegation alleged that the Home Minister was protecting his son Sandeep who violated laws pertaining to sale/purchase of lands belonged to tribals.
The Congress leaders demanded high-level probe into the forcible land acquisition cases in the state.
The PCC chief later once again cautioned the BJP government of launching massive public movement if its demands would not be met.
The delegation was comprised of leader of Congress legislators’ party (CLP) Ravindra Choubey, legislators Kawasi Lakhma, Dr Premsai Singh, Dr Shakrajeet Nayak, Rajkamal Singhania, Pratima Chandrakar, Bhajan Singh Nirankari and Rudra Guru along with Dhanendra Sahu, Satyanarayan Sharma, Bhupesh Baghel, Dhanesh Patila, Ganga Potai, PCC incharge general secretary Subhash Sharma, PCC spokesperson Rajendra Tiwari, DCC president Inderchand Dhariwal, PCC media incharge Mahendra Chhabra, Sewa Dal’s state organiser Ashok Raj Ahuja and other Congress leaders in large number.
