Start 100 city buses quickly: BJP to Mayor

The BJP corporators RMC have demanded from Mayor Kiranmayi Nayak to quickly commence operation of hundred city buses in the city. “The city is expanding fast, but lacks adequate conveyance facility. New colonies have developed in the suburban areas from where the residents have to pay high auto fare to reach to the downtown area. The people of Raipur desperately require more number of city buses, but the Mayor does not look serious in solving city’s conveyance problem,” said leader of the BJP corporators Subhash Tiwari, Prafulla Vishwakarma, Sunil Bandre and others on Wednesday.
“Presently, about 40 city buses are being operated through Raipur City Bus Limited (RCBL). The decision to ply 40 city buses was taken by the former Mayor-in-Council (MiC) considering public demand. Then according to new plan, it was decided to ply 100 city buses in Raipur. For this, the Centre too has released fund several months back. However, the Mayor has failed to take firm decision to start 100 city buses in spite of completing 18 months of her tenure,” Tiwari said.
He alleged that the Mayor had ulterior motives owing to which the project of 100 city buses had delayed. “She wants to form new company through which the 100 city buses could be operated. For this, she would once again change the rules and make new bylaws. This is strange. She is the chairperson of the RCBL and she would have full authority to operate all the buses according her wish but still she persistently wants to make new company,” Tiwari said.
“If the Mayor is unable to start 100 city buses then she should ask some other organisation to take the responsibility so that people could get better conveyance facility,” he added.
