YC preps up before its de-addiction drive from June 6

The Youth Congress (YC) is preparing for its statewide de-addiction campaign from June 6. In this connection, the YC Lok Sabha Raipur incharge Danish Rafeeque convened meeting of the organisation’s committee members and Vidhan Sabha presidents at Congress Bhawan on Saturday.
Rafeeque urged the members to aggressively launch the de-addiction campaign so that large number of people could be linked with it.
“We hope this drive will be effective and people will support us. We have continuously raised the issue of opening of liquor shops in public places and ramification of illegal liquor shops in urban and rural areas but no action was taken by the state government, local administrations and Excise Commissioner. This time, our campaign has broader objective, i.e. de-addiction from smoking and consumption of liquor, gutkha, etc” said the president of YC Lok Sabha Raipur Vinod Tiwari after attending the meeting.
“We will first take signature of the people from June 6-15 under de-addiction drive. For this, we have assigned jobs to the senior members,” Tiwari said. “Besides, awareness about disadvantages of smoking and consumption of liquor, gutkha etc would be created among public through posters, banners, dharna, traffic jams and hunger strike,” he said.
Tiwari informed that he and Rafeeque would convene meeting of all the vice president of YC Lok Sabha Raipur on Sunday at Congress Bhawan.
On membership drive, Tiwari said he would soon convene a separate meeting and delegate responsibilities to the senior members and give them target. The YC will launch its membership drive across the state from June 16. The YC has set target aims to add five lakh new members through this drive.
The meeting was attended by Sandeep Katiyar, Makhan Tamrakar, Panna Adil, Anwar Khan, Pankaj Mishra, Amit Sharma, Sushil Agrawal, Indrajeet Singh, Ashish Dubey, Neelkamal Gilhare, Satyanarayan Thakur, Rupesh Baghel, Rupesh Thakur, Sheikh Museer, Khilesh Dewangan, Sandeep Yadu, Sameer Chouhan, Kishan Bazari and others.
