Gadkari is a joker, BJP a party of shameless people: Hariprasada

Terms Swami Ramdev as blackmailer, owner of treasury of black money

Raipur, June 16, 2011

Launching scathing attack on BJP chief Nitin Gadkari for his recent outbursts against Congress on issues of corruption and black money, the general secretary incharge of the party’s Chhattisgarh unit BK Hariprasada termed him as inconsequential joker. “He is nondescript. He is heading BJP because the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) backs him. Once the RSS will remove its support from him, he will be instantly kicked out from the BJP,” said Hariprasada while he was informing about the party’s June 26 statewide rally programme to the media persons at Congress Bhawan on Thursday.
He said Gadkari had no moral right to give sermon on corruption and he must not forget former BJP president Bangaru Laxman’s cash-on-camera expose and his unceremonious exit.
“Instead of pointing out figures towards the UPA government, Gadkari should first do the cleaning exercise in his own party. There are glaring examples of corruption in BJP-ruled states. Why he is ignoring corruption charges against chief ministers of Karnataka (BS Yeddyurappa), Uttarakhand (Ramesh Pokhriyal), Madhya Pradesh (Shivraj Singh Chouhan) and Chhattisgarh (Raman Singh)? In fact, these CMs themselves have vast treasuries of black money,” Hariprasada said.
“The BJP is simply making noise over the issues like corruption and black money but it never took any proactive action in this regard during its six-year regime at Centre. It is Congress-led UPA which got back-to-back public mandate– in 2004 and 2009. The BJP could not digest the UPA government’s growing popularity and has persistently attempted to destabilise it by launching campaigns against it. Considering this, the Congress has decided to adopt tit for tat policy against BJP and the June 26 rally in the state is party of our strategy to counter it,” said Hariprasada.
“Rather, all our strategies in Chhattisgarh till 2013 (when state will have Assembly polls) will be against the incumbent government,” he said hoping that about one lakh people including party workers would participate in the rally.

BJP outsourcing its responsibility

Ridiculing BJP for extending its support to the civil society and backing Anna Hazare and Swami Ramdev, Hariprasada said, “When the BJP failed in creating stir in the country on corruption and black money, it decided to outsource its responsibility to Hazare and Ramdev. The BJP actually wants the Centre to buckle down before the pressure groups on the significant matters like Lokpal bill,” he said.
“If the BJP was so serious about this bill then why the CMs of this party-governed states did not come forward to give their suggestions?” he asked.
“The BJP rather wants to tarnish the image of Congress before people by misleading them,” said.

BJP is party of shameless people

Taunting at BJP for Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj’s jig at Rajghat during the BJP's 24-hour protest against the police crackdown at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi, Hariprasada said it was impossible to expect from such party leaders to behave properly and respectfully. Reiterating AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh’s remarks against BJP that it was party of nachaiyyas (dancers), Hariprasada went to term the BJP as “party of shameless people”.

Ramdev is a blackmailer

Terming Swami Ramdev as blackmailer, Hariprasada said, “This yogi is actually a bhogi (a person who seeks pleasure in worldly things). He is deceiving his supporters. He is having Rs 1200 crore under the belt of his trusts and he built this empire in just 12 years. This indicates that his ulterior motive to teach yoga was to earn profit from this easy mode. He is a pure businessman. If Ramdev is raising his voice so vociferously on corruption and black money then he should first disclose the names of donors who have given hefty amounts to his trusts. But he will not do this because he himself owns treasury of black money.”
No comment on Anna Hazare
Hariprasada parried questions on Anna Hazare and rather looked vocal on civil society. “It is an irony that the civil society never goes to Bastar where naxals are killing innocent people almost daily. This civil society never surfaced when riots erupted in Gujarat. If this civil society is really a well-wisher of the nation then it should first come out of the comfort level and take a pain by touring the problem areas of the country,” he said.
