PMT paper leak episode: YC burns CM’s effigy

Raipur, June 21, 2011

Holding the BJP-led state government responsible for PMT paper leak episode for the second time in one month, the Youth Congress burnt an effigy of Chief Minister Raman Singh at dharna spot near Sports Complex Budhapara on Tuesday. The YC also demanded from the CM to announce blanket ban on liquor sale with an immediate effect. “The CM must stop making empty promises to the public and quickly ban liquor sale in the state,” said the president of YC Lok Sabha Raipur Vinod Tiwari.
“We know that the CM will not prohibit liquor instantly because he has ulterior motive and is rather planning to drag the issue by giving obscure statements publicly till 2013 when the state will once again on Assembly polls. At that time, he might make some significant announcement regarding deaddiction to woo female voters,” Tiwari said.
“The CM has also raised the issue of deaddiction because he wanted to divert the public attention from corruption and irregularities prevailed in the government,” he added.
Further slamming the CM for stating that liquor ban in state could increase social problems, Tiwari said, “It is unfortunate that the head of the state is giving such an irresponsible statement. He must be aware that the liquor sale increased by 11 times during his regime and consequently accident and crime rates have skyrocketed.”
Ridiculing the BJP’s resolution on good governance through factors like reliability, predictability and accountability, Tiwari said, “Of course, the people of Chhattisgarh have witnessed a specific type of governance during BJP’s tenure as anarchy prevailed across the state owing to the government’s anti-people policies. Moreover, the state is establishing new standards in paper leak episodes and liquor sale in the country. Thanks to the CM’s negligent attitude that put Chhattisgarh as the first state where PMT papers leaked twice and third highest liquor selling state in the country.”
Demanding CBI inquiry into the PMT paper leak episodes, he said the government should also incur the to and fro expenditure of the students who would appear in the PMT exams again in coming days.
