The state Congress will submit long charge sheet with documental evidence against the BJP government to President Pratibha Patil in the coming days. A decision in this regard was taken by the party’s five-member sub-committee at Congress Bhawan on Saturday. Notably, the sub-committee was recently constituted by PCC president Nandkumar Patel to prepare charge sheet against the BJP government and to continuously keep hawk’s eye on its activities so that the Congress could expose it before public by raising various issues related to corruption and irregularities, law and order, etc.
The sub-committee’s meting was also attended by Patel, leader of Congress Legislators Party (CLP) Ravindra Choubey and other senior leaders. In the meeting, it was unanimously decided to collect documental evidences against corruption prevailed in the government machinery, about its wrong policies and inaction.
On the basis of documental proof, the Congress will prepare a charge sheet and first submit it to the Governor Shekhar Dutt and then to President Pratibha Patil. To meet Patil, a special delegation of the party comprising of senior leaders, all legislators, former MLAs and PCC office-bearers will leave for New Delhi as soon as the President’s office would fix its appointment with her, informed PCC media incharge Mahendra Chhabra.
In the meeting, both Patel and Choubey alleged that the BJP government was full of corruption and scams. “Ever since the BJP came in power in the state, it remained indifferent towards public problems. In past seven years, government has only benefited BJP leaders and industrialists,” the duo charged.
“In addition, the crime rate in the state has shot up by manifold since 2004, the criminals from other states are finding Chhattisgarh as safe haven, naxal domain has expanded, liquor consumption has increased by five percent owing to opening of large number of illegal liquor shops,” they said.
The meeting was attended by four out of five members of the sub-committee, i.e. MLA Dr Shivkumar Daharia, MLA Paresh Bagbahra, Bhupesh Baghel and PCC secretary Rajesh Bissa. The fifth member of the sub-committee legislator Mohammad Akbar was not present in the meeting. Besides, the other invited senior leaders in the meeting were – PCC incharge general secretary Subhash Sharma along with PCC general secretaries and spokespersons duo Rajendra Tiwari and Ramesh Varlyani.
After meeting, Patel and Choubey held discussion with the office-bearers and sought their suggestions regarding preparation of charge sheet against the BJP government. On the occasion were present - DCC (Raipur Urban) president Inderchand Dhariwal, Suresh Mishra, chief coordinator of Pradesh Congress Sewa Dal Ashok Raj Ahuja, Ravindra Shukla, Madan Taleda, Nandini Sahu, Amit Pandey, Rajkumari Diwan, Meenakshi Pandey, Sanjay Singh Thakur, Idris Gandhi, Avtar Singh Saini, Ramdhani Verma and others.
