RMC aims to collect cent percent revenue in 2011-12

The municipal corporation has set a target to collect cent percent revenue in 2011-12. In this regard, the civic Commissioner Rajesh Sukumar Toppo on Thursday issued necessary directives to the Revenue officials pertaining to collection target. He said the field staff should concentrate on both property tax as well as licence fee collection.
To perk up the revenue collection drive, Toppo has given monthly to the Revenue officials. He has made it mandatory for the officials to recover tax from at least ten percent of the city’s total number of houses on which the municipal imposes property tax.
He asked the officials to regularly organise special revenue collection camps in all the seventy wards till March 31, 2012. He categorically said that all the Revenue staffers from officials to employees should remain present in the special camps and stern action would be taken against the absentees. Toppo said he too would conduct surprise inspection of special camps.
The municipal officials informed that the zone commissioners had been directed to issue demand notices to all the taxpayers in the last quarter of the current financial year to publicly announce about the special camps on regular basis. Besides, the RMC will also urge people to pay their property tax through different modes of advertisement.
Notably, the property tax has been increased 10 percent in the residential areas and from 100 to 400 percent in the commercial locations. However, the municipal does not imposes property tax on houses up to 500 sq ft area.
