Cong intensifies preparations for June 26 rally

The Congress has intensified preparations for its statewide rally and public meeting against the BJP government on June 26. The PCC president Nandkumar Patel informed that special tasks had been assigned to the senior leaders while all the office-bearers from state unit to district, block, ward and panchayat had been urged to bring massive crowd along with them during the rally. The party hopes to gather about one lakh people in its rally and wants to blow the bugle against the incumbent BJP government in an emphatic manner.
To attend the rally, the party’s bigwigs from New Delhi will start arriving from Friday. According to information, the PCC’s secretary incharge V Hanumantha Rao will reach the state capital from New Delhi on Friday morning. On June 26, the PCC general secretary incharge BK Hariprasada and AICC treasurer Motilal Vora will arrive on June 26 morning. The Rajya Sabha member from Congress Mohsina Kidwai and Korba Parliamentarian Dr Charandas Mahant are also likely to attend the rally.
Patel said the Congress had thrown its full might to make the rally successful by raising the burning issues related to the state before the public. “We will also convey message through the rally that the BJP would not succeed in deceiving people of Chhattisgarh by spreading communalism with the help of Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP),” said Patel.
“We will demand BJP government to step down for failing to curb scams and corruption in competition examinations, recruitment procedures, etc. We will also ask the government fulfill its demands to distribute Rs 270 bonus and provide five horsepower electricity to the farmers and stop their exploitation,” he said.
“We will further raise issues like irregularities in Centrally-sponsored schemes like Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Act (MNREGA), literacy campaign, Rajiv Gandhi Shiksha Mission, Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), etc,” he said.
“The government will also have to give explanation on its failure to check rising naxal violence in the state in spite of adequate support by the Centre, about its motives to sell the river water, on allocation of mines to the ineligible companies and on power purchase scams in the past seven years,” he said.
