RMC unearths illicit recovery by parking lot contractor

The municipal’s Revenue squad unearthed illicit recovery being done by one parking lot contractor at Jawahar Bazar parking space near Malviya Road after conducting raid on Monday noon. According to information, the contractor was taking parking fare from the motorists much more than slab fixed by the RMC. In this connection, the civic Commissioner Rajesh Sukumar Toppo received several complaints in the recent past. With charges of illegal recovery against the contracting agency of the parking lot, the RMC has lodged an FIR against at Gol Bazar police station.

On Tuesday, Toppo asked the Revenue officer and Tehsildar Pulak Bhhattacharya to conduct raid in the Jawahar Bazar parking space and trap the contractor red-handed. Later, Bhhattacharya informed that the contracting agency – Aryan Security was taking higher parking fare than the fixed one. The Revenue squad led by Bhhattacharya also recovered fake receipt books from the employees of the Aryan Security. Bhhattacharya informed that none of the receipt books contain parking fare information.

Bhhattacharya further informed that the civic Commissioner first received complaint against illegal recovery done by Aryan Security on June 3, 2011 when a motorist Foolchand Singh had heated exchanges with the contracting agency’s employees after he was asked to pay higher fare to park his vehicle.

Thereafter, the civic Commissioner received series of complaints from the motorists who had to pay inordinate fare at Jawahar Bazar parking lot. They also showed the fake receipts to the civic Commissioner.

Bhhattacharya informed that the Aryan Security was recovering Rs five for bicycle parking, Rs seven for two-wheelers, Rs 15 for cars and Rs 60 for jeep segment vehicles. This was much more than the municipal’s parking fare slab which is - Rs two for bicycle parking, Rs five for two-wheelers, Rs ten for cars and Rs 40 for jeep segment vehicles, he said.
