Expressing strong objection to the removal of the residents of Moti Nagar, the PCC president Nandkumar Patel on Monday demanded from Collector Dr Rohit Yadav to quickly rehabilitate the affected people.
“It is unfair that the people of Moti Nagar were displaced without prior notice,” said Patel who led a delegation of Congress leaders and affected residents to meet Yadav.
The Collector first refused to give any assurance to the delegation regarding rehabilitation of 75 affected families, but when Patel threatened to stage dharna in front of Collectorate in favour his demand the former promised to provide houses to the displaced ones in Kabir Nagar.
The Collector further assured the delegation that the district administration would not displace the slum colonies without providing them rehabilitation.
Later, Patel said that if the district administration would not keep its promise of rehabilitation of Moti Nagar residents then the Congress would gherao the Chief Minister’s residence.
The delegation comprised of the Congress leaders including state organiser of Sewa Dal Ashok Raj Ahuja, PCC’s incharge general secretary Subhash Sharma, MLA Kuldeep Juneja, state president of PCC’s medical cell Dr Shivnarayan Dwivedi, Raipur DCC president Inderchand Dhariwal and PCC media incharge Mahendra Chhabra.
