No takers for bandh against Ramdev eviction: Cong

The PCC claims that the bandh called by Patanjali Yog Peeth (PYP) and Bharat Swabhiman Trust (BST) on Wednesday to protest the police crackdown on yoga guru Swami Ramdev agitation’s in New Delhi did not impact normal life in Chhattisgarh.
“The people did not support the bandh. Rather, the PYP and BST got support from the BJP, Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP). This was more an administrative bandh as the BJP is in power in the state. Apparently, the officials were asked to make the bandh successful,” charged PCC general secretary Rajendra Tiwari, president of PCC’s minority cell Haji Sheikh Najimuddin, MLA Shiv Daharia, Pradesh Mahila Congress (PMC) working president Kalpana Patel and other Congress leaders on Wednesday.
“We strongly condemn the bandh supported by the state government which overlooked the objectionable activities of BJP as well as Bharatiya Janata Yuwa Morcha (BJYM) workers who forced the commercial establishments to keep their work closed on Wednesday,” the Congress leaders said.
“It is an irony that the BJP supported the bandh when its own government in the state led by Chief Minister Raman Singh failed to provide basic facilities to the people. Corruption has become part of government machinery – right from plantation of jatropha saplings to power purchase,” they alleged.
“Besides, the farmers in Chhattisgarh are living in dejected condition because their crops are not being procured at minimum support price (MSP). Instead, the government is purchasing crops from middlemen and protecting them,” they charged.
