The government has allocated 1.83 lakh quintal additional rice for above poverty line (APL) families across the state for July 2011. The officials of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Department on Thursday informed that the allotted rice would be sent to all the districts under public distribution system (PDS) and would be distributed to the beneficiaries through more than 10500 fair price shops at the rate of Rs 13 per kilogram.
The amount of rice allocated to the districts are (in quintals) - Kabeerdham (Kawardha) – 4635, North Bastar (Kanker) – 3947, Korba – 5843, Koria (Baikunthpur) – 5369, Jashpur – 4741, Janjgir-Champa - 5011, South Bastar (Dantewada) – 10874, Durg – 17024, Dhamtari - 2945, Narayanpur - 389, Bastar (Jagdalpur) – 74888, Bilaspur – 18472, Bijapur – 6263, Mahasamund – 16356, Rajnandgaon – 15947, Raigarh – 15143, Raipur – 17027 and Sarguja (Ambikapur) – 10528.
