A day after Chhattisgarh Congress general secretary incharge BK Hariprasada’s blistering attack on BJP chief Nitin Gadkari, the BJP on Friday quickly came into rescue of its leaders terming his comments against the UPA government and Congress president Sonia Gandhi as appropriate, accurate and piercing. “Truth is bitter and it hurts. It has hurt the Congress and this is proof of its complicity,” said BJP’s state incharge Jagat Prakash Nadda on Friday.
Characterising Hariprasada’s remarks against Gadkari as sub-standard and the result of pent-up frustration in the Congress party, Nadda said the Congress had been hemmed in from all sides by protests and allegations. “The congress leaders have lost wisdom and in vexation they are targeting social activist Anna Hazare and yoga guru Swami Ramdev. This is fragile attempt to distract people of the country from actual issues like corruption, black money and inflation,” he said.
The BJP state president Ramsewak Paikra said by spewing venom against Gadkari, Hariprasada had polluted the political environment of Chhattisgarh. “People in this state use decent language and even politicians refrain from using unparliamentary words while giving public statements,” said Paikra adding that the BJP strongly condemns foul language used by Hariprasada against Gadkari.
He advised Hariprasada to first do his homework before pointing his fingers towards the BJP in public. “Our party raised the issue of corruption and black money much earlier. It was former Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Lal Krishna Advani who had announced during previous general elections that corruption would be the party’s main agenda in polls. Anna Hazare and Swami Ramdev became public voice against corruption later,” Paikra said.
Deploring Hariprasada’s anti-Gadkari remarks, the general secretaries and spokespersons duo Shivratan Sharma and Bhupendra Savanni said he had deliberately given such statement to create political antagonism. “By using indecorous language, Hariprasada is trying to rekindle the state Congress,” the duo said.
