The state government has procured about 13.51 lakh standard gunny sacks of tendu leaves worth Rs 108.15 crore till June 17, 2011. The officials of the Chhattisgarh State Minor Forest Produce Co-operative Federation (CSMFPCF) informed that the arrival of gunny sacks containing tendu leaves had increased in all the 10000 collection centres of 899 forest produce cooperative societies spread in 32 forest divisions of the state. The government has set target of procuring about 16.39 lakh standard gunny sacks from the jungles of the state in the current season.
East Bhanupratappur forest division has procured 95343 gunny sacks of tendu leaves and is on top of the highest procuring divisions. Notably, the state government had recently increased the collection rate for tendu leaf pluckers by Rs 100 and now they are receiving Rs 800 per standard bag. The officials informed that over 13.50 lakh families dwelling in the forests were getting benefited by the hiked collection rate for tendu leaves.
The collection of standard gunny sacks in the forest divisions of Bastar region are – Bijapur – 42297, Sukma – 80446, Dantewada – 28783, Jagdalpur – 23110, South Kondagaon – 19572, North Kondagaon – 27086, Narayanpur – 20235, West Bhanupratappur – 75297 and Kanker – 39363.
Similarly, the collection of standard gunny sacks in other forest divisions of the state are – Rajnandgaon – 78449, Khairagarh – 33077, Kabeerdham – 33033, Dhamtari – 23837, Udanti – 20341, East Raipur – 42771, Mahasamund – 84308, Raipur – 21265, Bilaspur – 20484, Marwahi – 22850, Janjgir-Champa – 6120, Raigarh – 56406, Dharmjaigarh – 69205, Korba – 48304, Kathghora – 61228, Jashpurnagar – 30505, Manendragarh – 28074, Koria – 23716, South Sarguja – 43686, East Sarguja – 44453 and North Sarguja – 84379.
