Cong: Rising naxalism due to BJP govt’s failed policies

Raipur, June 11, 2011

The failed policies of the BJP government have helped the naxals to increase their domain in Chhattisgarh. “Being head of the sate, the Chief Minister Raman Singh should have taken proactive measures to the curb naxalism but it seems his job is to simply pay condolence to the families of martyred jawans and wait for the next Maoist incident to occur,” charged PCC president Nandkumar Patel, leader of Congress Legislators (CLP) Ravindra Choubey, Korba Parliamentarian Charandas Mahant, PCC general secretary and spokesperson Ramesh Varlyani and PCC spokesperson Hasan Khan on Saturday after paying tribute to the ten martyred jawans who lost their lives when naxals attacked them blowing up their mine-protected vehicle (MPV) by using improvised explosive device (IED) at Katekalyan in Dantewada district.
“The attack is reprehensible and abhorrent. It rather exposes the barbarity of naxals. The attack on jawans only highlights the ‘bankrupt’ policies of the left extremist organisation,” they said.
“We equally condemn the government for posing silence in spite of back-to-back naxal incidents in the past couple of days. The government has failed to make any effective strategy to deal extremism in the state,” they said.
The Congress leaders also took a dig at DGP Vishwaranjan’s remarks after the incident and said, “It is shame that the top cop of the state gives irresponsible statements publicly like expressing government’s inability to figure out any effective methodology to protect the jawans from becoming victims of landmines blasted by the Maoists,” they said.
“The BJP government should clarify that till how long will it stake the lives of the jawans,” they added.
