Decision taken during CLP meeting

Raipur, February 18, 2013

Congress legislators’ party (CLP) has decided to raise Kanker rape incident in state assembly by brining adjournment motion on it in the House on the second day of budget session. The decision was taken during CLP meeting that held at residence of leader of opposition Ravindra Choubey on Monday.

The MLAs of principal opposition also decided to demand resignation of chief minister Raman Singh and tribal development minister Kedar Kashyap into Kanker rape incident.

The Congress legislators said they would not allow House proceedings to continue unless Speaker accepts their adjournment motion.

In the meeting, the party MLAs said the government was continuously ignoring tribal regions and hence the incidents like rape of tribal girls happened in Jhaliyamari in Kanker district.

They said the government should have reacted promptly and taken action against the guilty persons but neither the CM nor his cabinet ministers felt it important to take stock of the situation by visiting village Jhaliyamari.
Through adjournment motion, the Congress will not only raise rape incident in ashram school but would also gherao the government on human trafficking, migration, lack of development and  naxal violence in tribal regions.
