State’s women and child development department (WCDD) has invited entries pertaining to national child award (NCA) from all district collectors till April 15, 2013. The award is being given by union ministry of WCDD every year.
The officials of state’s WCDD informed that the children between 4-15 years of age-group and have shown exceptional achievement in any field including academics, arts and culture and sports etc. will be considered for NCA. The award will be announced on November 14, 2013.
Under NCA, one gold medal and 35 silver medals (one for each state / union territory) are given. The gold medalist will receive a gold medal, cash prize of Rs 20000, a citation and certificates.
Similarly, each of the 35 silver medalists will receive a silver medal, Rs 10,000 cash prize, a citation and certificates.
The national selection committee for NCA will comprise of a chairperson and seven members. The chairperson will be union minister of state for WCDD.
The seven members will be – secretary union ministry of WCDD, secretary or his nominee in union minister of state for social justice and empowerment, secretary or his nominee in union education ministry, secretary or his nominee in union ministry for culture, secretary or his nominee in union ministry for youth affairs and sports, joint secretary in union ministry for WCCD and deputy secretary in union ministry for WCCD.
