Raigarh rape case: YC terminates Goldie Nayak

Constitutes 7-member panel to probe into matter

Raipur, February 05, 2013

Youth Congress (YC) has terminated its Sarangarh Vidhan Sabha president Goldie Nayak for his alleged involvement in abduction and rape of an 18-year-old dalit girl in Raigarh district. The state YC president Uttam Vasudev informed that Nayak’s membership from YC too has been cancelled for six years.

“We condemn this despicable incident. We respect females and will always oppose atrocities against them. We will also continue to fight for justice of rape victims,” said Vasudev on Tuesday.

He demanded transparent investigation into the matter and stern action against accused.

The YC has also constituted seven-member committee to probe into the matter. The panel comprises of Sandeep Sahu, Savita Pawar, Renu Mishra, Ravindra Gavel, Amin Memon, Vibhash Singh and Vinod Tiwari.

Notably, Nayak and two of his accomplices reportedly kidnapped the girl from Sarangarh bus stand on January 1, 2013 and took her to Raigarh where she was raped for two days.
