Govt hiding facts from Jairam Ramesh: Cong

Raipur, February 06, 2013

Congress has alleged that the BJP government was hiding facts from union rural development minister Jairam Ramesh pertaining to implementation of centrally-sponsored rural schemes in state.

“The condition of state’s PMGSY projects is worst in the country. The Centre had approved 1200 road projects under PMGSY to link 1473 basahats (scarcely populated areas) of Bastar but the government could complete only 700 road works,” said Congress spokesperson Shailesh Nitin Trivedi.

Rebutting government’s claims that the Centre accepted its recommendations to increase Indira Awas Yojna (IAY) fund cap for beneficiary from Rs 45000 to Rs 75000, Trivedi said the government was lying as it was Ramesh who had announced about it on January 12, 2013 during his Raipur visit.

“Ramesh had also informed that the Centre had made a proposal to increase the IAY fund cap in next financial year,” he elaborated.

“Ramesh is intensely touring remote tribal areas of the state and is well aware of the government’s perjuries. He has recently disclosed about abject condition of PMGSY works in Bijapur and Sukma after touring the two districts. The government has completely failed to implement Centrally-sponsored schemes effectively transparently as is evident by prevalence of grafts in them,” he said.
