To mark 150th birth anniversary of Ravindranath Tagore, Pt Ravishankar
Shukla University (RSU) and State Resource Centre (adult and continuing
education) will organise three-day national seminar on Tagore and rural development
at RSU campus from February 20-22, 2013.
The coordinator of the organising committee for the
seminar Professor Mitashree Mitra informed that the seminar would be of
inter-disciplinary nature and include broad topics like - Tagore in shaping
rural reconstruction and rural development, relevance of Tagore’s idea on
environment, social discrimination and rural development, gender equality and
women empowerment, education – means to transform rural life and cooperative
way of life for transforming rural society.
Besides, the other subject on which the experts would
talk would be – nationalism and internationalism, Tagore and national
integrity, Tagore and Humanity, folklore and rural development and
globalisation and its implication on rural development.
In addition, a cultural programme and exhibition
comprising of Tagore’s life sketch, photographs, paintings, letters/scripts,
books and songs (CDs, DVDs) will be organised with an aim to reflect various
dimensions of his philosophy.
Mitra informed that registration is compulsory for all
delegates. The organising committee will arrange local transportation facility
for delegates from railway station to place of accommodation at varsity’s guest
house and hostels.
The patron of the organising committee will be RSU’s vice
chancellor Professor SK Pandey while the advisors will be Lalit Surjan, Prof DK
Marothia and Prof OP Verma. The members of the committee will be Prof Abha R
Pal, Prof VN Dube, Tuhin Deb, Prof M Chakravarty, Prof R Venugopal, Prof Adity
Poddar, Prof P Shrivastava, Dr Kavita Thakur, Dr AK Pradhan, JK Premi, Dr P
Sonekar and Dikendra Khute.
