Expressing concern over three diarrhoea deaths in Sukma district,
Congress on Friday alleged the government was ignoring health facilities in tribal
regions, especially Bastar.
“The health centres in Bastar lack basic
infrastructure. The government is also ignoring education and drinking water
facilities in tribal belts,” said Congress MLA Kawasi Lakhma.
“The government should stop praising self and take
moral responsibilities of deaths due to unavailability of prompt treatment and
scams prevailed in health sector,” he demanded.
“The Centre is providing adequate funds to state for
health sector. In next five years, the Centre aims to increase health
expenditure up to 2.5% of the GDP. However, the state government is misusing
the funds and not implementing health projects properly,” he said.
